Charli Knott has been recognised for her standout performances in June with a nomination for the latest PCA Player of the Month award.
Australian Knott, 23, claimed 11 wickets across six appearances in June at an average of just 14.64, while also adding 117 runs with the bat, as The Blaze won five out of six games.
She has helped The Blaze consolidate top spot in the Metro Bank One Day Cup and reach second in the Vitality Blast, just two points behind leaders Hampshire with a game in hand.
Knott’s standout showings both came in the Blast, first taking 4/17 in a 15-run win over Lancashire early on, before an explosive 54 not out from 35 balls in a nine-wicket thrashing of Essex last week.
She is the sole non-Hampshire representative on a four-strong shortlist otherwise dominated by the Hawks, with Maia Bouchier, Georgia Adams, and Amanda-Jade Wellington also all nominated.
The PCA MVP shortlists, powered by OFX, are calculated by means of a ranking system, where players earn points for their batting, bowling, and fielding contributions across every fixture.
This then produces an overall table of players, giving rise to the four-strong shortlist from which the overall MVP is picked via a 50:50 split between the MVP rankings and a public vote.
Knott’s MVP points put her third in the overall rankings, behind Bouchier and Adams and ahead of compatriot Wellington, with the public vote now open until Wednesday 1st July at 10:00pm BST.
Knott’s belligerent half-century in Chelmsford was combined with a bowling return of 2/24 from four overs, which earned her the Match MVP award as The Blaze won a third consecutive game.
She also took at least two wickets on a further three occasions, including her miserly haul of four at Trent Bridge as the Red Rose were bowled out for jut 120.
Once the vote closes tomorrow at 10:00pm, the winner of the June award will be announced shortly afterwards.
