Cassidy McCarthy marked her return to action with two wickets before Faith Teekasingh continued her purple patch with the bat as The Blaze 2nd XI saw off Surrey by five wickets at Lady Bay.

Teekasingh struck an unbeaten 90 from 102 balls, including the winning runs, as the hosts cantered to their target of 207 with more than 10 full overs to spare.

Reaching her fifty in 68 balls with one of her nine fours, she was ably supported by Georgie Boyce, who made 45 opening the batting, as well as Flora Davies, who added 26.

The target had been set after McCarthy, who remains on the comeback trail from injury, was one of four bowlers to take two wickets as the Brown Caps were dismissed inside 46 overs.

Ivreen Dhaliwal top-scored with 70 and Genevieve Jeer added 43, but identical figures of 2/22 for seamer McCarthy and left-arm spinner Maria Andrews saw the visitors dismissed for 206.

There were also braces for Liv Baker and Amy Wheeler, as Surrey lost their last five wickets for just 21 runs in the space of 29 balls.

From there, Teekasingh put on 70 for the second wicket with Boyce to take The Blaze almost halfway in 17 overs, before she went on to lead the charge towards a comfortable win.
