Joe Pocklington contributed 96 runs over the day as Nottinghamshire 2nd XI won both games of a T20 double-header against Kent at Polo Farm in Canterbury.

Pocklington made an unbeaten 46 from 32 balls in the first encounter to lead the Outlaws to a successful chase of 171 and victory by five wickets.

He then hit exactly 50 off just 25 deliveries in a high-scoring second game as the visitors defended 232-8, restricting the Spitfires to 215-8 to triumph by 17 runs.

Tom Moores was also amongst the runs in the first clash, notching 57 from 38 as Notts completed a comfortable victory with eight balls to spare.

Ben Fletcher’s earlier bowling return of 4/31 helped dismiss the hosts for 170 in 19.5 overs, in spite of captain Sam Billings’ 80 from 40 balls, as Pocklington also collected 2/23.

Batting first in the second fixture, the Outlaws piled up their enormous score as Freddie McCann and Sam Seecharan put on an opening stand of 126 from just 46 balls.

McCann struck 72 and Seecharan made 62, with Pocklington’s half century then picking up where the duo had left off to take 42 runs off the final two overs.

Kent were never fully in contention in reply as regular wickets kept their chase in check, with Benny Howell the pick of the Outlaws’ attack with a return of 3/39 and Seecharan taking two.

Oliver Butterfill slammed an unbeaten 32 off 11 deliveries late on, while wicketkeeper Oliver Curtiss hit a 25-ball 51 before becoming Fletcher’s fifth wicket of the day.

However, the pair’s efforts were too little, too late for Kent, as Howell’s final over went for just seven and contained two wickets as the visitors closed out their second win of the day.
