Alan Cleveley was born on 5th January 1932 in Derby. A right-hand bat and right medium fast bowler he made his sole Nottinghamshire first team appearance in the championship game against Essex at Trent Bridge in July 1955. Batting at 10 he made 4 not out and a duck and took figures of 3-63. His victims included two England test bowlers in Paul Gibb and Trevor Bailey. He played for Notts seconds for three seasons between 1954 and 1956
He died at the Old Lodge Nursing Home at Etwall in Derbyshire after a long illness, aged 81 years on 17th September 2012.
