ISHAN KISHAN

Ishan Kishan made the most immediate impact possible when he joined Notts as wicket keeping cover for Kyle Verryne, who was on international duty with South Africa.

Kishan caught Yorkshire's Adam Lyth off the bowling of Mohammed Abbas from the first ball that he faced as Nottinghamshire’s keeper!

He had already shown his skill when Notts batted, making 87 from 98 balls, with 12 fours and one six.

Across the two County Championship matches that he played, Kishan scored 164 runs for an average of 82, took four catches and one stumping – that also coming in his first game.  He even took his pads off and bowled one over of right-arm off breaks, for just a single, as his second game – v Somerset – drifted to a draw.

The left-handed batter had played two Tests for India – he was born in Patna, Bihar on 18 July 1998 – and represented his country in 27 ODIs and 32 T20Is.

In 2022, Kishan became the youngest – aged 24 years and 145 days – and the fastest player to score a double century in an ODI in December during India's tour of Bangladesh. He scored 210 runs from 131 balls, reaching the 200-run mark in 126 deliveries to beat Chris Gayle's record of 138 balls, adding 290 runs for the second wicket with Virat Kohli. He also became the first player to convert a maiden ODI century into a double century, and the fourth Indian player to score a double century in an ODI.
