Born on 20 November 1860 in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Tom George Buckland (birth registered as Tom George Beastall) was a right-hand batsman and right-arm fast medium pacer. He was a bag hosier, who appeared in the Notts Colts match in April 1881, he did not represent the County until 1888 when his appearances were limited to two successive First-Class matches at Trent Bridge, viz versus Sussex on 14 and 15 May, scoring 9 not out and having bowling figures 2-13 and 2-20, and against Surrey, scoring 12 and 2 and bowling 0-25 and 0-10.

His known professional engagements were: Huyton (1880), New Brighton (1881 and 1882), Bishop’s Stortford (1883 and 1884), Langham (1885 to 1887), Horsham (1888) and Wallasey.

He died aged 54 years on 18 July 1915 in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
