Nottingham played one first-class match in 1830 losing to Sheffield by 41 runs at the Hyde Park Ground in Sheffield on 30 and 31 August and 1 September. Sheffield, batting first, made 121 with Tom Marsden top scoring with 48. Nottingham obtained a first innings lead of 44 with William Clarke scoring 59 and George Jarvis 45, Marsden taking seven wickets for the home side. George Smith made 51 as Sheffield were 138 all out in their second innings. Nottingham needed 95 to win the contest but could only make 53 all out.
