Ryan Sidebottom will adopt a confident frame of mind ahead of England’s team selection for the fourth npower Ashest Test.
Sidebottom has been named alongside Steve Harmison in a 14-man squad to face Australia at Headingley and is understandably keen to cement a return to the fold.
“After my injuries it was clear that I needed to play some four day cricket and other players came into the England side and played very well,” said Sidebottom, who last played Test cricket for England against West Indies in Bridgetown in March.
“I’ve got two days in the nets with England and that’s a chance to show the form and condition that I’m in but I’ll go up there with the mindset that I’m playing and prepare for the game as I would for any other.
“I’ve had two good weeks with Notts and I’m high on confidence and hopeful that my left-arm swing will suit the conditions. England are a winning team at the moment and everyone wants to be part of the Ashes so I’ll just wait and see what happens.”
