Notts Outlaws have suffered the first defeat of their Friends Life t20 campaign at the hands of Yorkshire.

Riki Wessels' first-ball dismissal set the tone for a below-par batting display that was given impetus by Adam Voges' 70.

The Outlaws posted 148-6 but man of the match Phil Jaques batted through for 58 to keep Yorkshire in control throughout.

Yorkshire top the table and will progress to the quarter-finals whilst Notts need to win one of their remaining two matches to guarantee a spot in the knockout stages.

Voges hit five fours in his knock alongside Michael Lumb (20), Samit Patel (5), James Taylor (15), Chris Read (14) and Steven Mullaney (12) and bowled a tight over for one wicket.

The home team's credentials became briefly plausible when Joe Root was caught by Adam Voges and Jonny Bairstow was smartly stumped by Chris Read

Two routine catches went down to compound a frustrating evening in the field in front of almost 7000 supporters at Trent Bridge as Yorkshire completed victory with 14 balls to spare.

Friday's trip to Derby takes on added significance before the Outlaws wrap up the group stage at home to Leicestershire Foxes on Sunday (play starts 2.40pm).
