Batsman Riki Wessels has been named Nottinghamshire’s Player of the Month for August, sponsored by John Pye Auctions.

The destructive batsman was a consistent performer in the both NatWest T20 Blast and Specsavers County Championship formats.

The right-hander registered scores of 63, 37, 41 not out, 28, 32, 6 and 1 for a total of 208 T20 runs during the calendar month.

It helped him finish as the second highest run total in this year’s Blast tournament with 559 runs, just eight runs short of Kent’s Joe Denly, as the Outlaws secured their first ever T20 title at Edgbaston on Saturday.

Wessels also hit 198 runs in four-day cricket – 13 against Derbyshire and 69 and 116 against Northants – to help Notts to a resounding win that solidified their place at the top of County Championship Division Two.

He was presented with his award by Assistant Head Coach Paul Franks.
