A damp outfield prevented any play on the scheduled opening day of Nottinghamshire’s first class match against Cambridge MCCU at Fenner’s.

Although the day remained dry throughout, prolonged rain in the period leading up to the match had left certain areas of the outfield too wet for cricket.

Umpires Paul Baldwin and Chris Watts made frequent inspections during a frustrating morning session and decided at 1pm that there was no possibility of conditions improving.

If conditions allow, play will begin at 11am on the second day of the match, Monday 2 April.
