Matt Carter and Steven Mullaney both took three wickets each as Nottinghamshire bowled out Hampshire for 277 on the opening day of their Specsavers County Championship at the Ageas Bowl.

However, Notts lost a flurry of wickets late in the day to close the opening day on 39-4.

Fidel Edwards struck three times to remove Kraigg Brathwaite, Jake Libby and nightwatchman Matt Milnes to leave the visitors with a lot to do on the second day.
