Nottinghamshire players past and present, Bilal Shafayat and Jake Libby, played a significant part in the latest round of three-day Minor Counties Championship matches.

Nottingham-born 33-year-old Shafayat scored 101 not out at a run a ball playing for Lincolnshire, who made 442-7 as Loughborough MCCU opener Joe Kendall also made 142.

In reply, Cambridgeshire were 50-1 at the close in the Eastern Division game played at Cleethorpes.

Current Notts opener Libby – released from the Vitality Blast squad for the game at the Leicestershire Foxes – made his first Minor Counties appearance in three years in the match with neighbours Devon at Werrington in the Western Division.

He took two wickets with his off-spin, helping the host club’s seamer Tom Dinnis, who took his second five wicket haul in as many innings, skittle Devon for 136.

Libby, lining up alongside brother Aiden for his home county, then scored 67 as Cornwall made their way to 216-7 to build a useful lead.
