Nottinghamshire Women fought out an exciting County Championship tie with their Warwickshire counterparts in a game that ebbed and flowed at Lady Bay Sports Ground.

The visitors won the toss, elected to bat and got off to a flying start, putting on 58 for the first wicket.

Gwenan Davies (15) was first out, the first victim of Kirstie Gordon, who shone with figures of 5-18.

She was followed almost immediately in being dismissed by Amy Jones, who hit six fours in her 34 before being caught by Megan Burton, again off Gordon.

When Thea Brookes (15), former Notts player Jenny Gunn (5) and Marie Kelly (20) were dismissed by Georgie Boyce and Teresa Graves and Lucy Higham respectively, Warwickshire were in trouble at 106-5.

But Joanne Gardner (22) and Amelia Kite (19) led a fightback, putting on 31 for the sixth wicket, before the former was run out by Sonia Odedra.

Laura Crofts (11) added late order runs, but Jodie Dibble (2-20) and Gordon combined to polish off the tail as Warwickshire were all out for 160 in 44.2 overs.

In reply, Notts also began well, as Odedra (28) and Boyce (36) posted an opening stand of 66, but replacement Yvonne Graves fell for a duck.

As Dibble (10), Odedra and Higham (15) all departed in relatively quick succession, Notts were reduced to 100-5, but Teresa Graves (22) led a recovery.

After Kirstie Gordon and Graves then went with the score on 130, Amy Gauvrit (13 not out) and Hannah Hughes (11 not out) came together to try to get Notts over the line, but could not quite manage it as the scores ended level.
