Georgia Boyce hit a fifty and Kirstie Gordon took four wickets, but neither could prevent Nottinghamshire Women being beaten by five wickets in a 50-over match with Lancashire at Welbeck.

The visitors won the toss and put in Notts, for whom Sonia Odedra (28) and Boyce (50) put on an opening stand of 56.

But although Lucy Higham hit 19 and Megan Burton a late 14 not out, the hosts struggled to sustain any momentum in their total of 152-8.

Lancashire hammered home their advantage at the start of their innings as opening pair Evelyn Jones (43) and Emma Lamb (70) put on an excellent 113.

Gordon made some headway in excellent 10-over figures of 4-35, but it proved to be too little, too late for Notts, with Lancashire getting home with 10 overs to spare.

The Women are next in action when they host Warwickshire at Lady Bay Sports Ground next Sunday.
