Stuart Broad has retained his place in the England squad for the upcoming Ashes test against Australia at Emirates Old Trafford, starting on Wednesday 4 September.

The right-armer is set to continue leading the attack after James Anderson was ruled out for the rest of the series.

The Lancashire seamer felt pain in his right calf whilst bowling for his county's second XI against Durham, and has been made unavailable for the two remaining Tests of the summer following further review with the ECB medical team.

Broad has enjoyed a successful series so far, taking 14 wickets including a five-wicket haul in the first Test at Edgbaston.

The 33-year-old is his country's leading wicket-taker in the series so far.

Somerset's Craig Overton, meanwhile, has been added to the party.
