Samit Patel, the stalwart Nottinghamshire all-rounder, has shared the pain of being left out of the team for the first time in over a decade in the Club’s behind the scenes documentary, All In.

Episode 2 of the series captures the moment Patel was informed of the dec§ision by Head Coach, Peter Moores, ahead of the Specsavers County Championship match against Hampshire.

“The news was broken to me the day before. Mull and Mooresy pulled me aside and said I was going to miss out,” said Patel.

“It was disappointing not to play, but sometimes that can happen. Sometimes you need a kick to get going and Mooresy was probably trying to do that.

“My attachment to the Club is that I’m Notts through and through. That’s what I’m all about. If I don’t play and we win, I have no problems with that.

“How did I feel? Disappointed to be honest, and I felt that I’d let the team down.

“The one thing I don’t want is to let the boys down. I’ll always pride myself on that.”

Episode 2 provides dressing room access as both Moores and Director of Cricket Mick Newell address the squad about recent red-ball results.

T20 skipper Dan Christian discusses why he doesn’t expect the team’s Specsavers County Championship woes to affect their form in the shortest format.

Fellow specialists Harry Gurney and Alex Hales also give their thoughts ahead of Thursday’s Vitality Blast curtain raiser against Worcestershire at Trent Bridge.
