The ICC Cricket World Cup clash between India and New Zealand at Trent Bridge has been abandoned.
A prolonged period of rain throughout the week meant that the scheduled start was delayed, before subsequent pitch inspections were thwarted by showers throughout the morning.
An early lunch was taken at 1pm to give the ground the best chance to recover, but a 3pm inspection concluded that it would not be possible for the contest to get underway.
With ground conditions as they were, the ground staff required more than 2 hours to get the ground ready to play. As the latest possible start time for a 20 over a side game was 4.17, this ended the prospect of any game taking place.
Both sides take a point from the contest, leaving New Zealand one point clear at the top of the Cricket World Cup group stage table, with India two points behind in third place.
