Ben Slater stepped up his return from injury as Nottinghamshire’s Second XI drew their rain-affected Championship game with Leicestershire.

The opener, who has been absent from the Notts first XI through injury since scoring a century in a win over Warwickshire on 23rd April, made a composed 49 as the home side replied to Leicestershire’s 164-5 declared at Lady Bay.

For much of his knock, Slater was in the company of Jake Libby, who made a disciplined 23 in bowling-friendly conditions.

Zak Chappell (14) and Luke Wood (8) were at the crease as heavy rain after tea saw an early end to play, with Nottinghamshire on 112-3.

Earlier, there were two wickets for Jack Blatherwick, who finished with figures of 3-33 as Leicestershire scored 70 runs in 20 overs before deciding to declare.
