Ollie Pope and Dom Bess gave a glimpse into a prosperous future for England in the Test arena as the pair of 22-year-olds were the stars of the Three Lions' innings and 53-run victory over South Africa in Port Elizabeth.

Pope hit a first Test century, after some crucial work at the top of the order from fellow inexperienced duo Dom Sibley and Zak Crawley, to put England in the ascendancy, before Bess capitalised to secure his maiden five-wicket haul to set Joe Root's men on course for victory.

The win was duly wrapped up on the morning of the final day to give England an unassailable lead heading into Johannesburg, where the tourists will be hopeful of continuing their momentum and sealing a series victory on away soil.
