Haseeb Hameed is pleased to see the fruits of his labour in training translate to runs on the field, after notching his first 50 for the Green and Golds on the opening day of the pre-season fixture against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

The 23-year-old, who signed for the club during the close season, saw off the new ball before some flourishing drives, dabs down to third man and a few flicks off his legs took him past the half-century mark.

Hameed's 65 was the top score on a challenging first day of county-on-county action for the visitors. The 23-year-old believes that building towards the competitive action on 1 August is all that matters during pre-season cricket.
