Peter Moores feels the long-established bonds amongst the Outlaws squad have contributed to their flying start to the Vitality Blast campaign.

Notts will hunt down a third successive win of the Blast group stages when Leicestershire Foxes visit on Friday 4 September, with the Green and Golds naming an unchanged squad.

Moores believes the ability of the side to settle back into their white-ball roles with ease has already proven crucial.

“The side settled so quickly because people know each other well,” he said.

“So many of the lads have been here for a good few years now, including Dan Christian as captain – and I’ve been really pleased with the transfer from our red-ball to our white-ball cricket.

“We’ve thrown our heart and soul into red-ball cricket – and that’s back again soon – and people have transferred that mentality into the Blast really well.

“Batting-wise, we’ve had good individual performances – to chase 190 twice shows the depth of the power in that line-up – but the key for me is that there’s no room for complacency in such a tight league.

“We’ve played good cricket, but there are areas we want to tighten up, and we’ll hope to do that on Friday.”

A Friday night under lights against local rivals would ordinarily be the cue for a bumper crowd at Trent Bridge, but that opportunity will be denied to the Outlaws faithful this year.

Moores contends, however, that the action on the field will be no less fiercely contested because of that.

“We’ve really missed the members and supporters, there’s no doubt about that, but there will be a proper atmosphere between the players on the field. Both sides will be doing everything to win,” he said.

“We’ll be confident because we’ve been playing well, but Leicestershire are a dangerous side.

“Their games have been badly affected by the weather so far, but in such a shortened season they know that if they win it’ll put them in a very strong position in the league.”
