Peter Trego will lead Nottinghamshire’s Second XI in their opening outing of 2021, with Lancashire providing the opposition at Lady Bay for a behind-closed-doors fixture.

Trego, who was ever-present during Notts’ 2020 Bob Willis Trophy campaign, will skipper the side in their first red-ball encounter of the season, with matches in this season’s Championship taking place over four days to more closely mirror the First-Class game.

Whilst this summer is set to see the return of a more extensive programme of Second XI cricket, all fixtures are to be played behind closed doors until further notice in line with current government guidelines.

The seconds will contest a further five four-day fixtures across April and May, before focus switches to the limited-overs formats.

A block of white-ball cricket will commence with a one-day friendly against a Nottinghamshire Premier League XI, with a run of T20 fixtures to follow.

A series of longer-form encounters follow from 28 June, beginning with a trip to face tomorrow’s opponents at Southport.
