Essex seamer Sam Cook has been selected by Trent Rockets as their Vitality Wildcard for this summer's inaugural edition of The Hundred.

Cook secured the wildcard spot after enjoying a productive Vitality Blast campaign so far, taking 15 wickets across ten appearances at 17.60, including a carrer-best 4/15 against Surrey.

Trent Rockets had third pick in the wildcard draft, with Northern Superchargers selecting Durham allrounder Ben Raine as the first pick, and Oval Invincibles snapping up Kent youngster Jordan Cox next.

“We’ve got some massive names in our squad like Rashid Khan and Joe Root and it will be great playing with them," said 23-year-old Cook.

"It’s going to be fun and I’m looking forward to taking some wickets to help us get to the business end of the competition.”
