Day Two of Nottinghamshire’s LV= Insurance County Championship game against Durham at Emirates Riverside was abandoned without a ball bowled.

Having closed on 312-9 following a full day’s play on day one of the match, the Green and Golds were unable to resume their innings as persistent precipitation passed over Chester-le-Street.

The umpires inspected the pitch on several occasions throughout the morning and early afternoon, but eventually called play off for the day shortly before 4pm.

Liam Patterson-White (66*) and Luke Fletcher (8*) are the currently unbeaten batsmen for Notts, who require 38 more runs in 14 overs for a fourth batting point.

Ben Slater, who made 60, and Joe Clarke, who hit 48, also posted valuable contributions on Sunday to ensure the Green and Golds made the most of having been asked to bat first.

Brighter weather is forecast for the remaining two days, and Notts will hope to use that time to obtain the points needed to ensure qualification for Division One in the Championship’s second stage.
