Lyndon James reflects on his fourth fifty of the season at the end of the opening day of LV=Insurance County Championship fixture against Essex.

James and Steven Mullaney (55) provided impressive resistance against the hosts at a sun-kissed Chelmsford, adding 117 for the fourth wicket after three wickets fell for 48 and Joe Clarke retired hurt.

Essex swing the pendulum back their way with the wickets of both half-centurions and Tom Moores in the evening session, before the returning Clarke steadied the ship and added an unbeaten fifty of his own to see Notts close on 248-6.
