Ella Porter, Maddie Ward and Rhiannon Knowling-Davies have been named in Lightning’s Academy squad for the 2022 season.

The Nottinghamshire trio are amongst 16 players who have been called up to the Loughborough-based outfit for the upcoming summer.

All three were part of the academy in 2021, whilst also playing their part in a successful season for Nottinghamshire’s women as Martyn Kiel’s senior squad cruised to the County T20 East Midlands Group crown.

Right-handed opener Porter also top-scored for Notts’ U18 Girls in 2021, hitting 399 runs with a high score of 89 as the side romped to a title triumph in Group 3 of the ECB’s County One-Day Competition and completed an unbeaten twenty-over campaign.

She was joined in the senior setup by wicketkeeper Ward, who made the spot behind the stumps her own at the age of 16 after appearing on four occasions in a severely-truncated 2020 season.

Meanwhile, right-armer Knowling-Davies snared 12 victims at 12.67 apiece across ten U18 appearances, whilst also featuring on five occasions for the women’s first team.

Lightning represent Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire in the ECB’s elite domestic structure for the women’s game, with their senior side plying their trade in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and Charlotte Edwards Cup.
