Nottinghamshire Assistant Coach Paul Franks believes a LV= Insurance County Championship win against Yorkshire will show how far the Notts have progressed in red ball cricket, with the hosts needing a further 132 with nine wickets in hand on the final day at Trent Bridge.

After bowling the visitors, who were following on, out for 396 in their second innings, Notts closed on 42 for one, requiring a total of 174 to win their final match of the season.

Should they reach their target, the Green and Golds may yet qualify for the Bob Willis Trophy next week at Lord’s, depending on results elsewhere.
