A double century from Haseeb Hameed and an accomplished 90 from Olly Stone preceded a clinical bowling display from Notts to move the hosts within four wickets of an innings victory against Lancashire.
Captain Hameed, ably assisted by Stone and a cameo from Dane Paterson, carried his bat as Nottinghamshire were bowled out for 503 - a lead of 172.
Dillon Pennington then snared three wickets, Paterson two and Lyndon James one as Lancashire were reduced to 100/6 in the third innings.
