Nat Sciver-Brunt credited the Trent Bridge crowd with helping Trent Rockets’ Women over the line, as they secured their first home victory of the 2025 edition of The Hundred.
Chasing 124 against Birmingham Phoenix, the hosts overcame a late flurry of wickets to secure a three-wicket win, after The Blaze all-rounder Sciver-Brunt had sparkled with 52 runs from 29 balls.
And the England captain felt her home support had a role to play in the triumph.
“We left it a little bit tight at the end there, but we’re really pleased to win a game at home,” she said.
“The crowd were getting right into it at the end, and I guess that’s what we’ve missed by not getting the results at home until now.
“Having that energy from the crowd is really special and can get you over the line, so we’re glad to finally do it today.”
Sciver-Brunt’s half-century was her second of the competition this year, having opted not to captain the Rockets this summer.
“I’m really happy with my game,” she said.
“I’m happy to be in a good place as we head into the rest of the summer and the World Cup.
“Not captaining this year has maybe been a chance for me to think about my batting quite a lot more and just enjoy myself.”
Sciver-Brunt’s England responsibilities, however, mean she has half an eye on the competition at all times – including the likes of Emma Lamb, whose half-century was Phoenix’s standout contribution in defeat.
“It’s been great to see different people performing at different times across the teams,” said Sciver-Brunt.
“Playing in this competition is really fun, and while I’ve been relaxed and trying to enjoy the cricket as it comes, I’ve been keeping an eye on what everyone else is doing and how the other games are going from a Rockets and England perspective.”
