Georgia Elwiss has continued her fine start to the 2025 domestic season by being crowned the winner of May’s PCA Player of the Month award.
She was shortlisted for the award through the PCA’s Most Valuable Player Rankings, powered by OFX.
The unique algorithm selected the top four players before they faced a public vote, with the winners decided by a 50:50 split between the two.
Elwiss won the award by firstly picking up the most MVP points in May with 118.15, and then dominating the polls by securing more than 53% of the public vote.
The all-rounder, capped 54 times by England, scored 339 runs at an average of 84.75 across the Metro Bank One Day Cup and the Vitality Blast throughout May.
She also claimed seven wickets with her right-arm medium pace, including 3/35 against Surrey to go alongside 82 with the bat in a nail-biting One Day Cup tie in Beckenham.
Elwiss also secured one Match MVP award in May, against Bears in the opening game of the Vitality Blast, as she hit 52 while opening the innings after claiming two wickets.
“It’s a lovely honour. It’s something very new to me, since I’ve never won it before,” said Elwiss.
“Coming into a new team, you want to make a good impression and try and help them win games, which is all I have been focused on through May.
“It was great to win against Lancashire, considering we tied the day before. Each game can be exhausting both physically and mentally, so it’s all about regrouping.
“But to come away with a hard-fought win, having learned from what had happened the day before, and playing a little bit better, was really pleasing - and of course, it was a nice celebration for me on my birthday!”
