Australian all-rounder Heather Graham is delighted to be reunited with The Blaze ahead of a titanic top-two clash with Surrey at the Kia Oval.

Graham applied the flourish to last season’s Charlotte Edwards Cup triumph by hitting the winning runs in the final.

And she is immediately into the thick of the action on her return by being included in a 13-strong squad to travel to the capital.

“The flight was really good and I’m settling in really well,” said Graham. “The girls have been going really well and obviously we head down to the Oval tomorrow for my first game.

“It’s been great to watch the girls from back home, even if it has been a bit hard to watch sometimes with the time difference, but it’s been great to see them going well.”

The momentous nature of facing the unbeaten table-toppers is not lost on the 28-year-old.

“It doesn’t come much bigger than [a top two clash], but I think it’s a great challenge,” she enthused.

“It should be a really good game, so we’re really looking forward to it. I’m hoping I can contribute with bat and ball.

“If I can go out there and bowl well alongside having a good go with the bat, then I’ll be happy.”

In particular, Graham is delighted to be playing at the 27,000-capacity venue in London, and sees the fixture, which will stand alone without a men’s game following, as a boon for women’s cricket.

“It’s really awesome that the women’s game is now being played at the big grounds, and I’m really looking forward to it.

“I’ve had a couple of washouts at the Oval before, but this will hopefully be my first time actually playing there!”

Despite Surrey’s record in the Blast thus far that has seen them win four games from four, Graham has confidence in The Blaze’s ability to end that 100% record.

“It’s always nice to have the tag of being the team that won the title last year, and now we have the hunger and the drive to go again,” she said.

“We’ve started well, so hopefully we can continue with that over the rest of the group stage and make Finals Day again.”
