County Championship-winning wicketkeeper-batter Kyle Verreynne will return to Trent Bridge in 2026.
The South African has signed a red-ball deal that makes him available for the entirety of Nottinghamshire’s Championship title defence next summer.
Verreynne will go down in history as the man who officially won the Green and Golds’ seventh title, striking a six to bag the vital batting bonus point.
Becoming a County Champion rounded out a productive second stint at Trent Bridge for the 28-year-old, who hit exactly 500 runs and claimed 38 catches behind the stumps in 2025.
“It’s really exciting to re-sign for another season at Trent Bridge, a place that now holds some very special memories,” said Verreynne.
“Being able to contribute to the success we had was really pleasing for me, and I’m looking forward to getting back over there next summer.”
Further afield, his individual summer was as glorious as they come, with the Pretoria-born man also hitting the winning runs as South Africa beat Australia at Lord’s to win the World Test Championship in June.
He will return to Trent Bridge for the third summer in succession, having helped the Green and Golds retain their Division One status in 2024 before playing a vital part in the glory that followed a year later.
“While it was obviously a proud moment to hit the runs that brought the trophy home, everyone deserves the credit for an incredibly special season,” added Verreynne.
“I can’t wait to head back to Trent Bridge and contribute to the team again as we go in search of even more silverware.”
Head Coach Peter Moores continued: “It’s great news that Kyle has agreed to continue his stay at Trent Bridge, because keeping as many of the title-winning squad together feels really important.
“His winning six last year will live long in the memory of everyone who witnessed it, and, in many ways, it summed up the year he had.
“His impact on the group was significant, and he has a calmness in the way he goes about his cricket, which gives confidence to those around him.
"The thing that excites me most about Kyle is that I still don’t think we’ve seen the best of him, and the more he settles into English conditions, the better he will perform. We’re absolutely delighted to be welcoming him back in 2026.”
