Former Notts and England batter James Taylor will be the first guest of the Nottingham Cricket Lovers Society this winter.

Taylor was at the heart of the Nottinghamshire middle order across all formats during the first half of the 2010s, spending two summers as the club's captain in limited-overs cricket.

He amassed over 6,000 runs in Notts colours and earned regular international recognition before being forced to retire from the sport in 2016 due to a heart condition.

Having spent time as an England selector, Taylor is currently Assistant Coach at recently-promoted Leicestershire, and helped the Foxes to One Day Cup Final victory at Trent Bridge in 2023.

The society's first meeting of the year will be held in the Trent Bridge Inn, with space at Trent Bridge itself occupied by infrastructure from the Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival and the Pavilion redevelopment.

The meeting will begin at 7pm on Thursday 16 October.

Membership of the society costs £20 for the winter, allowing entry to all seven meetings across the course of the winter.

Alternatively, admission to individual meetings costs £10.
