Nottinghamshire Strength & Conditioning Lead Zac Bess has taken on a temporary role with Scotland for the duration of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Bess will fulfil the same duties with the Scottish national team during the World Cup, which is being hosted in India and Sri Lanka between 7th February and 8th March.
Scotland were a late addition to the World Cup, replacing Bangladesh, and will play West Indies in their first game at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on the tournament’s opening day.
“I’m really looking forward to being part of the Scotland coaching staff at an occasion as big as the T20 World Cup,” said Bess.
“It’s a great chance to develop my knowledge and understanding of different situations and players at an international event.
“I’m extremely excited to be going and very grateful to Notts for not only supporting me but also encouraging me to take this opportunity.”
Scotland’s third Group C game will see them take on England in an all-British clash, in between further fixtures against Italy and Nepal.
The top two sides from each of the four groups will then progress to the Super Eight stage, which sees those who have qualified allocated into two further four-team groups.
Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket, Mick Newell, added: “We’re very proud of Zac that he’s reached a point in his career where he’s being offered opportunities like this one.
“We encourage all our staff to take these fantastic opportunities, and all the learnings he will pick up while he’s there will be of great benefit to everyone at Trent Bridge when he returns.”
