Kathryn Bryce claimed two wickets as Scotland sealed their spot at a second successive Women’s T20 World Cup with a 41-run win over United States.

Her sister Sarah was also involved in a run-out as the USA, chasing Scotland’s 178-8, were dismissed for 137 thanks to Kathryn’s 2/29.

It was a bittersweet occasion for The Blaze, though, with Scotland’s success meaning Ella Claridge was in turn denied the chance to take the US to the World Cup.

Claridge top-scored with 35 from 26 balls in the American innings, but Priyanaz Chatterji and Chloe Abel both claimed their own braces to keep Scotland in control throughout.

It was Chatterji’s efforts with the bat that had also helped Scotland over the line, as she made 39, second only to Ailsa Lister’s 43, before becoming one of two Claridge stumpings.

Tara Norris collected 4/33 for the US, but Chatterji and Lister’s stand of 41 in the second half of the Scotland innings proved instrumental in setting an out-of-reach target.

The result saw Scotland finish third in the final Super Six table, level on points with Ireland and Netherlands, and all three will join Bangladesh at the final tournament this summer.
