The honours were shared during the first day of Nottinghamshire seconds' tie with Northants in the Second Eleven Championship at Lady Bay.

Notts were bowled out for 225 following a top score of 45 from opener Chris Gibson as Northants took consistent wickets throughout the home side’s innings.

Tom Sole picked up a five-wicket haul finishing with figures of 5-61 from 17.1 overs to restrict Notts.

However, the visitors ended the first day on 95-3 with Matt Milnes striking twice in two balls before the close of play to remove Ricardo Vasconcelos and Charlie Home for ducks.

Jack Blatherwick also picked up the wicket of Charlie Thurston (29) but Northants opener Ben Curran was left unbeaten on 55 leaving the game in the balance as it heads into its second day.
