A five-wicket haul for Matt Milnes couldn’t stop Northants from taking control on the second day of the Second Eleven Championship game at Lady Bay.

The Notts seamer finished with figures of 5-55 from 17 overs as the visitors reached 339 all out in their first innings.

A knock of 134 from opener Ben Curran and a half century from Ben Bhabra gave Northants a first innings lead of 114.

Jordan Cook picked up two wickets whilst Paul Coughlin bowled ten overs and took the wicket of Curran as he continues his return from a shoulder injury.

In reply Notts’ top order struggled as the home side finished the day on 143-6 giving themselves a slender lead of 29.

Liam Patterson-White will resume the third day unbeaten on 49* after putting on 75 runs so far with Connor Marshall, who will continue on 25.

Notts will be hoping the duo stay at the crease for a significant portion of the final day to try and salvage something from the game.
