Luke Fletcher showered praise on Ben Slater for chalking up the runs that gave the Notts bowling unit a little more freedom to attack Derbyshire on day one at the Incora County Ground.
Slater's century was the key contribution as Notts posted 256, before reducing their opponents to 86/8 at stumps.
