Dillon Pennington feels Trent Bridge is making him a better T20 bowler, after keeping Bears’ openers on a leash in a record-breaking win for Notts Outlaws at Trent Bridge.

Pennington finished with figures of 1/33 from his four overs – recording the best economy-rate of any Outlaws bowler on the night – as Notts stormed to their largest ever successful run chase in T20s.

He now joins his fellow Outlaws in travelling to Emirates Old Trafford to face Lancashire Lightning (Saturday 31 May, 4pm).

“There was a short side tonight that made it really challenging for bowlers, but it’s also good fun playing here,” he said.

“If you bowl well here, you’re always getting better, and it makes you get better.

“We’ll reflect on this result tonight and get straight back to it tomorrow.

“We’ll try to stick to what we did tonight, and the processes we had, and go from there.”

Pennington is expecting the challenge to be somewhat different in the North West tomorrow, as Notts take on a side who were victorious in their own season opener.

“I think it’ll be on the bowler-friendly side compared to tonight, but who knows!” he said.

“They’re normally fairly big boundaries and I can be a slightly slower pitch.

“It can be quite hostile, but that’s always good fun in T20s.”

The speed of the turnaround between games may be said to pose a logistical challenge – but the taste of victory negates that, according to Pennington.

“You’ve just got to get your head over the game, get some sleep and rock up fresh minded,” he said.

“It’s always easier to do that after a win. The boys will be on top form tomorrow, so we’ll just look to go again.”
