Byron Hatton-Lowe claimed a wicket and a run-out as Nottinghamshire 2nd XI tussled with Yorkshire on an intriguing first day of their final match of 2025.
The White Rose, having been inserted after visiting captain Sam Seecharan won the toss, declared on 264-7 from 68 overs, before the Green and Golds reached 80-1 at stumps.
Wickets were split evenly around the Notts attack, as all of Hatton-Lowe, James Hayes, Tom Giles, Raheem Ahmed, and Joe Pocklington claimed one scalp apiece.
In addition, Hatton-Lowe claimed a rather comical run-out as Yorkshire wicketkeeper Harry Duke was inexplicably caught short under little pressure at the striker’s end.
There was also an occurrence of the lesser-spotted hit wicket dismissal, with home opener Noah Kelly going too far back in his crease to Ahmed and treading on his stumps for 47.
The wickets were completed by another run out, as Hayes and Oscar Butcher combined to remove Yash Vagadia, who top-scored for the hosts with 73.
Scoring quickly during the last 14 overs of the day, Seecharan, who made 25 not out, and Travis Holland, who hit an unbeaten 27, put on an unbroken 45 for the second wicket.
That picked up where Ben Wright had left off for his 26-ball 20, and took the visitors safely through to stumps, trailing overall by 184.
