Forget Me Notts this week celebrated the festive period with their fourth annual Christmas lunch attended by 75 members and supporters of the programme

The initiative, delivered by Trent Bridge Community Trust, offers excursion opportunities for individuals living with dementia and their carers, with sessions at Trent Bridge, Edwalton Golf Centre, Melbourne Park and the Rushcliffe Arena.

Importantly, the programme provides a community of people who can share experiences with one another, get access to expert advice and ease the burden of one-to-one care.

The festive lunch in the Radcliffe Road stand’s Boundary’s Edge - made possible by a generous donation from John Pye Auctions - included a two course meal, complete with seasonal trimmings, and a quiz, led by Community Trust volunteer Keith Tongue.

“It’s wonderful to host the Christmas Lunch once again, and great to see so many familiar faces in a slightly different setting,” said Ian Richardson, Forget Me Notts lead. 

“The resumption of Forget Me Notts following a Covid enforced break was vitally important for those individuals who have dementia and also their carers who have seen their responsibilities increase over the course of the pandemic. 

“This lunch provided an opportunity for us to come together and celebrate how far we, as a community of people, have come despite difficult circumstances and enjoy each other’s company at what is a very special time of the year.

“We are immensely grateful for the support of John Pye in assisting with the delivery of this event,” Richardson continued.

“It’s our aim, through collaboration, to enrich the lives of those suffering with dementia as well as their carers, and opportunities such as these allow us to do that. 

“We look forward to extending the programme into the new year and all the enjoyment and fulfillment it will bring.”
