Chris Gibson’s half-century couldn’t save a youthful Nottinghamshire Second XI from a Trophy defeat against Durham.

Mark Footitt and Bermudan trialist Kamau Leverock each took two wickets as the home side were restricted to 276-8 from their 50 overs after winning the toss in Hartlepool.

Stuart Poynter (71) and Solomon Bell (60) each recorded half-centuries. Joey Evison’s seven overs cost just 18 runs for the prize wicket of Cameron Steel, with the Academy all-rounder also collecting a run out.

Although Sol Budinger (30), Gibson (54), Ben Bullimore (48), Jayden Schadendorf (35) and Sam Hall (25) made contributions, Nottinghamshire were ultimately all out for 244 with two deliveries of their innings remaining.

Josh Coughlin - brother of Notts all-rounder, Paul, and himself an England under 19s international – took 3-44.

Nathan Rimmington, the vastly experienced Australian paceman, meanwhile bagged 3-36 as the Jets were victorious by 32 runs.
