But when that maiden game finally came, Hameed was clearly in the mood to make up for lost time.
Announcing himself early on the first morning of Notts' opening Bob Willis Trophy fixture with a series of impeccable cover drives, Hameed's talent was on full show as he recorded half-centuries in each of his first two innings.
