A youthful Nottinghamshire outfit lost by 74 runs against Derbyshire at Worksop College in their second T20 North Group games in as many days.

Derbyshire openers Harry Came and Tom Wood put on 108 runs in nine overs to help set a commanding total of 220, with Dane Schadendorf and Liam Patterson-White the only Notts batsmen to make meaningful contributions in reply.

The Green and Golds used eight bowlers as they battled to stem the flow of Derbyshire runs after the away side won the toss, but when Came was trapped lbw by Patterson-White for 66 from 38 deliveries, and Wood was bowled by Evison for 37 from 19 balls, the assault continued.

Wicketkeeper Harvey Hosein picked up the baton and bludgeoned 33 runs before being run out by a direct hit from Ben Martindale, then Mattie McKiernan capped the visitors’ innings with 31 from 16 deliveries.

U18 batsman Travis Holland was the first to fall when Notts took to the crease, caught by Hosein off the bowling of Sam Conners, and regular wickets fell as the hosts looked to catch up with the increasing required rate.

Dane Schadendorf made 32 before he was caught behind off Ben Hutchinson and Hosein got his third dismissal with the stumping of Evison off McKiernan’s leg-spin.

Patterson-White made an enterprising 37 from 17 deliveries, including five sixes, before he was caught and bowled by Ben Aitchison trying to improvise a scoop shot with the score on 104 after 12.1 overs.

It marked the beginning of the end for Notts, who could only muster 42 more runs before being bowled out two balls short of the allocated overs for 146.
