Liam Patterson-White and Mitchell Todd impressed as Nottinghamshire built a healthy advantage heading into the final day of their Second XI Championship game with Durham.

Australia-born triallist Todd hit 83 at the top of the order, with Patterson-White unbeaten on 88 as the visitors reached 281-2 at stumps, leading by 196.

Durham resumed on 92-3 overnight but quickly lost Solomon Bell, castled by John Richardson.

Mark Footitt and Paterson-White then snared two scalps apiece, Cameron Steel making fifty as the hosts slumped to 197-8.

But John Bushnell (71) and Matthew Potts (55*) compiled a hundred partnership for the ninth wicket to ensure Durham would end their first innings with an advantage, eventually being bowled out for 306 as Footitt snaffled his fourth wicket.

In reply, the youthful Notts top order moved steadily towards building a considerable lead, Chris Gibson chalking up his second half-century of the Second XI campaign.

After he and Todd both departed, Patterson-White and Lyndon James (41*) continued to accumulate, recording a century stand just before the close of play.
