Nottinghamshire First-Class Debut – 4 September 2018 v Yorkshire
Nottinghamshire’s coaching staff took steps to restructure the county’s top order towards the end of last season with some key signings. The first of a trio of talented young stars to sign was former Derbyshire opening batsman Ben Slater.
The Chesterfield-born opener settled quickly into his new environment, making a hundred on his home debut against Yorkshire last September.
Slater made his First-Class debut in 2013 and has scored over 4,000 runs at that level, with 1,025 of them coming last season, his best in the game.
Making the most of an opportunity to score some early season runs this time, Slater scored a century against Cambridge MCCU in the First-Class match at Fenner’s, sharing in an opening stand of 325 with Ben Duckett.
His maiden one-day ton for Notts came, appropriately, against his former county Derbyshire, at the County Ground in April taking his List A average to an impressive 55.46 from 35 matches.
