Nottinghamshire First Class Debut – 31 March 2019 v Cambridge MCCU (Fenner’s)

Former Worcestershire batsman Clarke was one of the hottest properties in the game when he agreed to join Nottinghamshire ahead of the 2019 season, having already racked up 13 first-class hundreds.

By this time he had already given Trent Bridge regulars a glimpse of his precocious talent by making an unbeaten 177 on the ground.

Clarke was a member of the Worcestershire side that lifted the T20 Blast crown last summer and will be hoping to add to his medal collection in Nottingham.

His career switch couldn’t have got off to a better start, with innings of 112 and 97 not out against Yorkshire on his Notts championship debut, followed by 139 against Lancashire on his one-day debut.

The right-hander added a further brace of County Championship hundreds against Warwickshire towards the end of the 2019 campaign, before showing his talents on a more consistent basis in 2020.

Clarke hit a century in Notts' final Bob Willis Trophy clash of the season against Durham, but it was his three-figure score against the same opponents in the Vitality Blast which will live longest in the memory.

The Outlaws number three became Notts' fourth T20 centurion in style, demolishing the home attack at Chester-le-Street.

Clarke added two further fifties across the course of Notts' successful Blast campaign.
